about me

Hi! My name is Haley and I'm a high school student from middle-of-nowhere Massachusetts, blogging about food, non-required reading, and all the girly things I can't get enough of. I started this blog in January of 2015, partly because it had been a long time dream of mine, but also because I think my boyfriend, Mike, was getting a little sick of me texting him pictures of my food all the time!

5 Signs You Have Come to the Right Place:
1. You love food. Like, you really love food.
2. You're constantly looking for book recommendations - "What should I read next?" is always the Question of the Day.
3. You're shamelessly feminine and wish guys would understand that just 'cause you're wearing high heels and a flouncy skirt, doesn't mean you won't kick their @$$.
4. You're looking for a positive, encouraging environment...no thinspo allowed!
5. Your personal motto is "down with the patriarchy." (Ha ha, just kidding...sort of.)

My blog is also a way to help me heal my damaged relationship with food...I fell into an unhealthy pattern of restrictive eating and binging midway through my freshman year of high school. Recently, I have been trying hard to adapt to Intuitive Eating practices (read more about I.E. here!) and really love and nurture myself. It's been a long, rough battle, but it's so worth it to be able to enjoy cooking and eating the dishes I used to love again! (Cases in point: Ben & Jerry's ice cream and chocolate chip pancakes.) I hope that through sharing my experiences and strategies on this blog, I can help other perfectionists like me make peace with the beautiful bodies they were born with, instead of constantly striving for an impossible ideal.

A Little More About Me...
In addition to being a blogger of all things edible/readable/wearable, I am also a ballerina, amateur yogi, aspiring 10K runner, and Girl Scout. (For those of you who are interested, I am currently working on my Gold Award in historic preservation, which you can read about here.) I became a vegetarian in August of 2012 and have not gone back since! (Click to read why.) I have been in a happy, albeit long-distance, relationship with my boyfriend/best friend Mike since March of 2013. Someday, I hope to become either a journalist or a PR rep - my top schools include Brown and Boston University - and hopefully travel the world <3
